Weekly Summary #9
This week was focused on the ending of radio and the beginning of video. For me, this is exciting. Very exciting. I really really really like video. Hell, i work for the video team at UMW! but anyways i just really like getting to do video also because i am good at it and know what i’m doing. But this week we had to wrap up our radio show and listen and tweet to one more show. Then we had to start doing more video stuff and could either make a Video Story or do assignments, i chose the story, and also learn how to read a movie, then actually read a movie. We also had to do 2 Daily Creates and then make a category on our page dedicated to our character.
Daily Creates: I did the daily creates from Friday and Saturday. They were connected which was pretty cool. On friday it was to write a poem about a rainy day, then on saturday the daily create was to read it and record ourselves. So I wrote it on the Daily Create page and posted about it, then i recorded it the next day with soundcloud and also posted about that.
Reading a Movie: So we had to watch a couple of different videos (three to be exact) that showcase different cinematic styles and different things used in video and cinema that many time go overlooked. I posted about what i watched and what i learned and just kind of my thoughts on these concepts! After doing this we had to watch one of the 4 movies listed. I chose Notorious because it was free and didn’t have Czech subtitles in the way. We had to analyze a scene and “read the movie” using what we just learned about. I did a scene about 10 minutes in where Alicia and TR are driving and i noticed multiple types, including one i did not see much mention of which was use of a moving background. I will let you watch my video and hear my “video essay.” To do this i used that 4k software you linked to and put it all together using Windows Movie Maker.
Video Show: Ok, so, i am excited for this. very very excited. I really enjoy making videos, did i mention that? but anyways, the Tune Squad is getting back together (minus Gambino) we are making a video that is about a ballerina in the Russian Ballet that is murdered at Dodd Auditoruim. The Tune Squad investigated and eventually links it to a major organization. I do not want to give away too many details but you can watch the trailer and think what you want! We have a pretty good plan of what we are doing, we made the story line and each of us is working on what we want to say in each video. We are actually starting filming tomorrow!!! I am going to use the equipment from the video team because i can and it is just so much better than anything else i could use, you have to love professional quality video equipment! To make the trailer i found a dubstep remix of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and added that in because it just adds a bit of fun and craziness to the ballerina idea. I used Windows Movie Maker for this because it is simple and the trailer was meant to be simple.
Radio Wrap Up: For the radio wrap up we had to do a final post on our radio show and what it was like to see other people’s input. nobody tuned in to my show so yea… But i posted about it and my final thoughts so check it out! On top of that we had to listen, post, and tweet along to another radio show, I tuned in to Dinner Party at 6 on Thursday Night. It used a lot of sound effects and it was very very very good. The show itself was pretty confusing and made me hungry, but i kind of understood it… kind of. The sound effects really stood out, what it lacked in show quality it made up for with the sound effects.
Sound effects giving a good, almost creepy vibe #ds106radio

Also, i am trying to get more active on twitter, mainly just promoting my blog. The problem is nobody that follows me cares about my blog, like literally i’ve had people tell me to stop tweeting about it, but imma keep posting because ds106 is life! YOLO!
Again, i am just really excited to start doing video which is something i am really good at.
