Safari or photo Safari? I pick the latter!
So one of our task this week was to create a photo safari!! I’ll admit i kind of had a hard time with this one, i read those articles and watched a couple videos to understand noir, i think i’m getting there but i don’t rally know… I tried taking some cool shadow pics and taking some pics from weird angles so i would appreciate any feedback from anyone on what they think!!
This post was my one devoted to the Urban Nightscape! Being stuck on campus without a car, it is hard to find a good place to take a nightscape picture, i tried to take one of downtown Fredericksburg but nothing came out well. This Is the Link and Mason Residence Hall, I liked how the lights were there but they leave dark spots, i tried to separate the picture into thirds using the lights, it really helps show the darkness between the light.
The next one is my favorite, lighting from one side. I work for the UMW video team and we do a lot with lighting and i just absolutely love doing exaggerated lighting. (Notice my bear being my super model for a couple pictures)
The next one also involves Mr. Bear. this time it is the distinct shadow of his head and ears. In order to take the lighting pictures i have a lamp and used them as my artificial light and positioned the bear where i needed him for the picture. This one roved a bit more challenging because I couldn’t think of the best camera angle, i tried!!!!
This is the last appearance of Mr Bear here. This time he is getting that cool awkward angle shot. Looking back at it, it look like he is larger than life. I guess by having the carpet in the foreground it gives the effect of that to the bear! But having stuff in the background kind of brings him down to size…
The final photo is my Urban Grittiness. So i took this at night because i feel you can;t get the real Urban feel unless you use the artificial light provide by a window or a lightpost. This is the side of a building on UMW, you can guess which one, but the perfectly aligned rows or bricks and windows really show the distinctiveness of the urban environment!! I have always had a thing for side shots and cool angles to show siding!
